I wanted to focus on an entire genre this week instead of one particular song/artist/album. I don't know about you guys, but I love 90's R&B. I have a Spotify playlist dedicated solely to it and another playlist on my iPod for it. I don't know what happened between 1999 and now, but R&B music is different, and worse. Here are my top 5 reasons why 90's R&B is so much better than the music people call R&B now. It was actual R&B music and not the hip-hop fused music that’s out now.

“Lay your head on my pillow”, “Stay” (by Jodeci not Rihanna), “Candy Rain”, “End of the Road” are just the tip of the iceberg that are classic R&B songs from the 90’s that these songs nowadays can’t even touch! Boy bands that could sing and actually did.Back then we had groups like Boyz II Men, Blackstreet, Jodeci, Toni Tony Tone, After 7, Dru Hill, New Edition, the list goes on!

These were groups of men who actually sang and danced their butts off! Speaking of the guys…Whitney, Mariah, Brandy, Monica, Shanice, Tamia…so many of these women were known by their first names because they were/are just that talented!
