This past Friday was truly one of the books! I was given the opportunity to cover this year's 'Arts, Beats + Lyrics' and once again I had so much fun. We had a media preview a few weeks back at Bar 5015 and got a chance to sample a few of this year's signature drinks as well as check out some awesome artwork. We even got the chance to see one of the artists finish a piece in real time! I'm not sure who won that Clutch piece, but I'm definitely envious! We danced, mingled, ate and even won some pretty dope raffle prizes. I won an Ultimate Ears bluetooth speaker and that thing is small and mighty! The media preview was a ton of fun, and definitely got us all excited about the main event.

Like last year, we had the opportunity to come in a bit early and were given a private tour by the curator himself, Dubelyoo! I recognized a lot of names from last year's show and even ran into one of the artists whose piece I fell in love with last year. I had a fangirl moment with Kat Goduco and was once again impressed by her ability to capture such amazing art underwater!

This year they had lightboxes and those pieces were SO DOPE!!! There were two Spiderman ones that I know my brother and nephew would love and this one of Biggie Smalls that I wanted (if I had the budget for it). There were even these picture in picture type pieces that I absolutely loved.

This was only my second year attending the event, and once again I was blown away. The name fit perfectly, the DJ spun hit after hit, we were surrounded by a ton of thought-provoking pieces and Rapsody shut down the show! I'm already looking forward to next year's show in Houston and I'm even considering going to one of their other stops.

Have you guys ever attended an event like this? Or attended a local stop on this tour? If you haven't I definitely recommend going to the next one. The vibe, soundtrack and drinks are like none other. I was reminded yet again why it's always great to be a friend of Jack!
