I was hit by a car on Monday evening.
I think that that finally sunk in today. I haven't really told anyone outside of my boss and co-workers (since I haven't been able to come into work) and my immediate family and friends, but I felt like it was time to share it with y'all.
I was never unconscious, I remember everything. I was crossing the street but I didn't wait for the pedestrian green and crossed on a red. I saw the lights of the car (which must have just been making a right on red instead of driving straight) and I threw up my arms to shield my face from getting the brunt of the hit. I bounced off the car and my injuries came from landing too hard. I landed on my right side but when I rolled over onto my left side I must've done it too hard because I now have a knot on my head as well as several scratches and bruises.
An ambulance was called and of course the fire department came out, they actually got there first and strapped me in and asked me all the standard questions. Wearing that uncomfortable neck brace was the worst part of the experience.
I was definitely blessed that that's all I got were a few scratches and bruises and learned my lesson. My boyfriend was so worried, we were supposed to have date night on Monday and he'd come all the way out to my house (he lives almost an hour away) and I was in the ER. When I got out of the ER that night I checked my phone and saw that I had 10 missed calls from him. It was then that I'd wished that I'd given my step-mom his number so she could've called him while I was in the ER.
You live and you learn.
She now has it just in case something happens in the future.
Like I said, I was blessed to only walk away with a few bumps, scratches and bruises but yesterday I woke up feeling like hell run over. I was off yesterday and today letting my body recover and thank God I have such an understanding office. My bosses told me to make sure that I need to worry about myself first and work second. I'm on the mend and if things continue at this pace I will be in the office tomorrow morningshowing my battle scars of course!
Have any of you ever been in accidents?
