We’re down to the last 3 days of the year and I must say that it’s truly flown by. 2014 was really great to me, I moved into a place that I really like, a place I feel like I can call home. My old apartment was okay, but I really love my current place. I made it my own with the décor and accents (thank you Tavaria for your help with that) and have even thrown a few shindigs (one of favorite words this year). I feel like I’m getting the hang of things now and will definitely have more get togethers next year. I even plan on cooking for shindigs instead of catering them! Baby steps people, baby steps.

This year also brought some old loves into my life, who then introduced me to new loves. I have to say, that I was shocked when my friends told me that it felt like my entire life started to revolve around Chuck when we were dating, I swore to myself that I’d never be that girl, and I have to say that our breakup was a blessing in disguise. I was able to reconnect with Marc, an old friend from undergrad and as a result I’ve fostered relationships with some pretty amazing people. There are days that I wish I would’ve stayed longer at UT Tyler, that way I could’ve shared some of those experiences with Kam, AJ, Millican and Marc but I don’t regret leaving when I did. I might not have gotten to have crazy times in East Texas with them, but I sure have had some amazing times in Houston and even Austin with them.

I feel like I’ve grown in more ways than one, I decided to take my happiness into my own hands and speak up more this year. I’m a recovering people pleaser, and with the help of my therapist I’ve been working more and more on just saying “no”. No excuse, no real need for explanation just “no”. I can’t tell you guys how relieving that can be at times. “No, I’m not going to be able to grab drinks with you” “No, I won’t help you with hosting xyz”. It’s truly amazing. I’ve been working on myself in other ways too, I recently got back on a sleep schedule and I have to say it’s really been helping. I wake up at 4:45am on weekdays and going to bed at 9:45pm is perfect for me. It gives me plenty of time in the evening to get home and do what I need to do before laying and falling asleep…oh and sleeping through the night!

I also honed in on what I want and don’t want in a mate this year. I used this year of single-ness to date and I must say it’s been fun. There have been quite a few duds, but there were a few good guys too. Marc asked me a while back if I would be ready to settle down and get married if the right guy came along, and I said yes. I don’t mean marriage right away, but definitely an exclusive, monogamous relationship. There are somany horrorstories on Tinder&OK Cupid a girl can take. This was also a big year for my family. My little nuggets are getting older (Moke is 5 now, Kenie & Caleigh are 3 and CJ is 1!) and this year was the year of babies! I had 3 cousins and my baby sister all get pregnant this year and two of the babies have been born. This is perfect, their kids will make great babysitters when I adopt my kiddos. My blog has grown a bit this year. I’ve branched out and done a few advertisements and I only see things going up from here.
